A classic compilation album dominated by Malian and Senegalese musicians. A choice of musicians that bring both old styles and new to the table. Particularly impressed by the lesser known Dinuba Seck whose 'Niteke Nela' is a enjoyable example of the range and power of the female voice in West African music. Definitely worth a look if you know and love the classics but want to hear the occasional surprising choice.
