Macire Sylla - Mariama(Dejembé-Faré DME20)
Often compared to Angelique Kidjo, Macire's style is undeniably smooth. A Guinean-born singer, she is a griot by heiritage, and combines her story telling traditions with Western pop and even reggae. On this album, her band Dejembé-Faré play instruments like the Fulani flute and Mande guitar which enhance Macire's soulful voice beatifully.
