Cheikh Lô - Lamp Fall

(World Circuit/ WCD 073)

CheikhLoLampFall.jpg

'Lamp Fall' is dedicated to Cheikh Ibra Fall, disciple of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba and the founder of the Baye Fall religious brotherhood, of which Cheikh Lô is a devoted follower. The Baye Fall are famous for growing dreadlocks and wearing multi-coloured gowns. Musically the album mixes m'balax, flamenco, reggae, soul as well as Cuban and Brazilian music. The track 'Sénégal-Brésil' is a perfect example of the more Latin influences. 'Lamp Fall' is a must-have for any African music fan.
