Various Artists - Indestructible African Beats

(Manteca World Music/ MANTCD055)

Various Artists Indestructible African Beats

This excellent compilation by The Shrine DJs Rita Ray and Max Reinhardt features Daddy Saj's 'Corruption (E Do So)' as well as tracks by Daara J ('Boomerang' still sounds as exciting as the first time you heard it), Roots rock rebels Tinariwen of the Sahara desert, Mali's techno blues maestro Issa Bagayogo, the Congolese Konono No. 1 (8 minutes of hypnotic trance sounds), the Golden Voice of Mali Salif Keita, South African Kwaito acts Arthur and Mapaputsi and South African hip-hop act H20, and poet-cum-Afrobeat artist Ikwunga.

This music fights for survival, peace and justice and against exploitation, disease and corruption. Serious issues plus 100% danceability.
