This is my predication for 'album of the summer'! It's the latest release from Amadou & Mariam, the multi-talented and highly inventive Malian husband and wife musicians.
Their new album 'Dimanche a Bamako' (Sunday in Bamako) is fabulous! It is produced by and features the brilliant Manu Chao, whose unique style of layering and fusing rhythms with everyday sound bites is clearly distinctive. The album has already been a smash hit in France. I'm a huge fan of them and love this album it hasn't left my CD player since I received an advance copy a few days ago.
