Versatile rhythm master, Moctar is an outstanding soloist drummer from Senegal. His style and range of musicianship is thrilling to hear and watch - he plays a range of West African drums: the djembe, bougarabou, sabar and seourouba. Drum leader of the dance group Casadimanca, Moctar performs regularly in Ziguinchor and Abene, in the Casamance. Evocative in its simplicity, 'Badija' is truly international in its making as it which was recorded both in Africa and Bristol. Listen out for Moctar playing solo djembe and singing beautiful Mandinkan arrangements.
