Rachid Taha & Vieux Farka Touré live in London

French-Algerian Rai Rocker and Ali Farka's son at the Barbican on 6 April 2007.

Rachid Taha

Bound to be one of the highlights of African live shows in London is this bill which features Rachid Taha as the headliner as well as equally exciting support act Vieux Farka Touré.

Algerian worldbeat artist Rachid Taha has always remained faithful to his roots, but resolutely contemporary his music influences are as diverse rai, punk, techno and rock. For this special concert Rachid is joined by guests and past collaborators as he follows up his highly regarded Diwan album with Diwan 2, revisiting further classics from Algeria's 50s golden age in his own highly idiosyncratic fashion.

Vieux Farka Touré

Vieux Farka Touré ’s, eponymous debut album, which features Grammy award-winning artists Toumani Diabate and his father, the late great Ali Farka Touré, represents an historic passing of the torch from father to son. A highly talented guitarist, singer, songwriter, and percussionist his beautifully crafted music features flourishes of rock and reggae amidst Saharan Blues and traditional Malian melodies. This is Vieux's first ever London appearance.
